Message from the Pope
Dear young people,
As you gather on the shores of the Baltic in Tallinn for the 47th European Youth Meeting by the Taizé Community, Pope Francis extends his warmest greetings to you, the brothers of the Community, the leaders of Christian confessions in Estonia, and all the welcoming individuals at the end of this year.
During his Apostolic Journey to the Baltic States in 2018, the Holy Father met with young people in Tallinn and shared words that resonate with your experience today. He emphasized the importance of meeting, sharing life stories, thoughts, and hopes, all while uniting as believers in Jesus Christ.
In the current global context of challenges and uncertainties, coming together in solidarity and brotherhood holds immense significance. With hope as the guiding theme, the participants in Tallinn aim to inspire positive change and resilience in the face of adversity.
The Pope’s message encourages you to embrace hope as a powerful force that uplifts and guides amidst weariness, crises, and worries. This divine gift illuminates the path forward, offering meaning, purpose, and direction in life.
The Church places its trust in the youth, recognizing their pivotal role in spreading God’s love. The ongoing synodal process within the Catholic Church reflects progress in fostering ecumenical relationships with other Christian denominations.
With blessings and prayers, Pope Francis entrusts each participant and their families to the care of the Lord, seeking the intercession of the Virgin Mary for guidance and protection.
Cardinal Pietro Parolin
Secretary of State
