God gives hope and meaning to our lives! This was the heartfelt reminder Pope Francis offered to the Taizé community as they gather for the 47th annual European meeting in Tallinn, Estonia.
In a message signed by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, the Pope highlighted the importance of togetherness in the face of the world’s challenges. He recalled his ecumenical meeting with young people during his Apostolic Journey to the Baltic countries, where he stressed the beauty of unity among believers in Jesus Christ.
Facing Trials Together
In the current context of violence, war, inequality, and ecological dangers, Pope Francis emphasized the need for solidarity and brotherhood. He acknowledged the difficult trials the world is undergoing and encouraged the Taizé community to stand together in hope.
“Many countries are marked by violence and war, numerous people are victims of inhumane treatment, and still others are disoriented by the inequalities in our societies and the ecological dangers we face.”
Embracing Hope Against All Odds
The Pope commended the young members of Taizé for their commitment to “hope against all hope,” echoing the Prior’s message for the upcoming year. He urged them to walk in God’s hope, which overcomes fatigue, crisis, and anxiety, providing a strong motivation to move forward.
“Hope overcomes every fatigue, every crisis, and every anxiety, giving us a strong motivation to move forward, because it is a gift we receive from God Himself: He gives meaning to our time, illuminates our path, and shows us the direction and goal of life.”
In conclusion, Pope Francis expressed his trust in the young people and the Church’s reliance on them to spread the good news of God’s love. He imparted his Apostolic Blessing upon all members of the Taizé community and their families, calling for a renewed sense of hope and faith in Christ.
