Pope Francis recently shared a powerful message in a BBC podcast, urging Catholics to become “pilgrims of hope.” He emphasized the importance of hope and kindness, stating that they are at the core of the Gospel.
Addressing listeners shortly after the launch of the Jubilee Year, the pope stressed that kindness is not merely a tactic or a means to an end, but a profound expression of love that fosters acceptance and humility.
Despite the challenges of wars and social injustices, the Holy Father encouraged people to remain hopeful and avoid falling into cynicism or despair. He shared his thoughts in an audio message released on Dec. 29.
Referencing G.K. Chesterton, Pope Francis highlighted the writer’s call to appreciate the blessings of life with gratitude. He also expressed a wish for hope, peace, and gratitude in the new year, emphasizing the importance of these theological virtues.
During the ongoing Jubilee celebrations, pilgrims from all corners of the globe have been flocking to St. Peter’s Basilica to pass through the Holy Door opened by Pope Francis on Christmas Eve. In his Christmas Day address, the pope reminded everyone that God’s heart is always open, inviting us to return to Him.
