Welcome to Exaudi, where Fr. Jorge Miró shares his insights on the Gospel of this Sunday, December 22, 2024, titled “Who am I that the mother of my Lord should come to me?”
Christmas is more than just a family gathering or a sentimental tradition; it is a time to reflect on the true meaning of the season. To truly celebrate Christmas as God commands, the Church invites us to contemplate the Virgin Mary on this final Sunday of Advent. Mary, who received Jesus because she was prepared, serves as an example for us to also prepare our hearts to welcome Him.
Preparation involves having a genuine desire for Jesus to come and removing any obstacles in our hearts that hinder His presence, such as sin, pride, and lack of humility. It also entails listening to the Word of God amidst the distractions of the world and being open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Today’s Word reminds us that the humble will find God, as seen in Mary’s humility and openness to God’s will. Like Mary, we are called to accept God unconditionally and fulfill His plan for us.
As Christmas approaches, let us prepare our hearts to receive Emmanuel, “God with us.” Open your heart wide to Him and allow His peace, joy, and happiness to fill you. Just as Mary believed and received the fulfillment of God’s promises, may we also have a heart ready to welcome Christ into our lives.
Are you prepared for Christmas? Is your heart free from obstacles and open to receiving Jesus? Let us emulate Mary’s simplicity and humility as we prepare to welcome the Lord into our hearts. He is eager to enter and bring us the peace and joy that only He can provide.
Come, Holy Spirit, and guide us as we prepare for the coming of our Lord!
