Andrea Rodríguez-Prat, born in Barcelona in 1988, has been awarded the XLIV Fernando Rielo World Prize for Mystical Poetry. The prestigious award ceremony took place on December 12 at the San Pablo University College in Madrid. Maria Jesús Rosales Palencia from Ciudad Real, Spain, received an Honorable Mention for her work “Tiempo de volar“.
The event featured discussions by the Jury on the concept of mystical poetry for Fernando Rielo, the finalist works, and the Jury’s deliberation process. Luis Casasús, President of the Jury, emphasized the importance of poetry in today’s world, describing it as a therapy for the soul seeking peace in authentic and infinite verses.
The winning collection of poems, “Exégesis“, by Andrea Rodríguez-Prat, was selected from 312 entries from 32 countries. The Prize was presented by Cardinal D. Carlos Osoro and Mr. Luis Casasús.
Andrea Rodríguez-Prat holds a PhD in Humanities and serves as a professor at the International University of Catalonia. She is the Director of the Institute of Culture and Thought and a researcher at the WeCare Chair: End-of-Life Care, focusing on publications in Palliative Care.
In her work “Exégesis“, Rodríguez-Prat delves into the themes of time and space, exploring the dichotomy between light and darkness, grace and fall, eternity and instant. The book reflects on biblical landscapes and the hope for a new paradise in union with God.
María Jesús Rosales Palencia also received an Honorable Mention for her poetry collection “Tiempo de volar“. The Fernando Rielo World Prize for Mystical Poetry aims to showcase poets who combine spirituality with literary expression.
The event concluded with a recital of poems from Fernando Rielo’s “Dolor entre cristales“, accompanied by music performed by César García-Rincón de Castro and José Robledano Cabrera.
