100 Presepi returns to Piazza San Pietro
The much-awaited 100 Presepi exhibition is back in Rome for its 2024 edition, bringing the magic of Nativity cribs to Piazza San Pietro from 8 December to 6 January 2025.
A beloved tradition on the Christmas calendar of Rome, 100 Presepi showcases Nativity scenes not only from Italy but also from various countries around the world.
This year’s exhibition will feature 125 cribs and coincides with the Vatican’s preparations for Jubilee Year 2025, kicking off officially on Christmas Eve.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition will take place at 16:00 on 8 December, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, following the illumination of the Vatican’s Christmas tree and Nativity Scene.
Alongside classic replicas of Neapolitan and Roman cribs from the 18th and 19th centuries, visitors can also admire modern interpretations crafted from wood, papier-mâché, terracotta, and even unconventional materials like sand, rice, and metal.
