The Daughters of St. Paul in West Africa: Nurturing the Flame of Hope
Recently, the Daughters of St. Paul in West Africa (Nigeria-Ghana) gathered in Abuja to reflect on their journey as consecrated women embodying the spirit of St. Paul in the modern world.
Under the leadership of Sr. Oluwakemi Akinleye fsp, the sisters came together to prepare for their upcoming 12th General Chapter in Rome in September 2025. The theme of the Chapter, “Impelled by the fire of the Spirit, listening to contemporary humanity and communicating the Gospel of hope,” set the tone for their discussions.
Embracing the Signs of the Times
During the meeting, Delegate Superior Sr. Josephine Idowu emphasized the importance of reflecting on their community and apostolic activities over the past five years in light of the challenges and opportunities of the present moment. The visit of Sr. Anna Caiazza, the congregation’s Superior General, and Sr. Carmen Christi, the General Secretary, added a special dimension to the gathering as they encouraged the sisters to remain steadfast in their mission as communicators of the Gospel.
A Commitment to Courage and Faith
Despite the economic hardships and security concerns in the region, the Daughters of St. Paul remain unwavering in their commitment to spreading the Good News through various media platforms. As the Church looks ahead to the Jubilee Year in 2025, the sisters have pledged to approach this time of grace with a renewed sense of gratitude, trust, faith, and zeal in their apostolic endeavors.
Their dedication to proclaiming the Gospel in challenging times serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who encounter their work. Through their continued efforts, the Daughters of St. Paul in West Africa embody the spirit of St. Paul and bring light to a world in need of hope.
