In a recent Mass at the General House of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in Rome, Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś, Archbishop of Łódź, emphasized the crucial role of the family in today’s societal debates. He commended the congregation for their charism, stating that caring for families is a pressing need in the Church.
Reflecting on the connection between the family and evangelization, Cardinal Ryś highlighted the congregation’s unique ability to support families in times of crisis. He underscored the importance of the community life experience within the congregation in effectively serving families.
Lessons for the Jubilee
Drawing inspiration from the liturgy of the First Sunday of Advent, Cardinal Ryś encouraged the sisters to stand firm, be vigilant, and pray always as they embarked on their jubilee year. The Mass served as a thanksgiving for the congregation’s blessings over the past 150 years and a prayer for continued grace in fulfilling their mission.
Gratitude from the Superior General
Sister Angela Marie Mazzeo, Superior General of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve families. She called for prayers during the Jubilee Year and encouraged the sisters to renew their zeal for the mission.
A Global Jubilee Celebration
The 150th-anniversary celebrations of the congregation began on the First Sunday of Advent and will continue until 2025. The sisters plan to participate in various events, including a private audience with Pope Francis and the enshrinement of relics in Rome.
Jubilee events will take place in 14 countries where the Nazareth Sisters are active, featuring conferences, retreats, pilgrimages, and concerts.
