“Spes non confudit” is the name of the Bull with which Pope Francis announces the Jubilee 2025. The keyword is hope: a thought goes out to the most vulnerable, from migrants to prisoners, to people in war.

“The time has come for a new Jubilee, in which to open the Holy Door.” Solemn tone used by Pope Francis as he reads the Bull of Indiction of the Jubilee 2025, Spes non confundit. A text that traces the problems of the present and officially indicates the start and end dates of the Jubilee 2025, which opens on December 24, 2024, and ends on January 6, 2026.
The word hope characterizes the Holy Year: “May it also help us to regain the necessary trust, in the Church as in society, in interpersonal relationships, in international relations, in promoting the dignity of every person and in respect for creation – explains Bergoglio – And let us allow it to become contagious for those who desire it through us.”
The comment of the mayor and extraordinary commissioner for the Jubilee Roberto Gualtieri did not delay in arriving. “The invitation to rediscover, rebuild, and proclaim hope speaks to the Church, to the faithful, and to all humanity,” he declares in a note.
The note of Mayor Roberto Gualtieri
Upon learning of Pope Bergoglio’s Bull, the words of Roberto Gualtieri arrived: “We are all called to transform the signs of the times into signs of hope for peace, for life, for the youth, for the most vulnerable: prisoners, sick, migrants, elderly, poor. Even more so, the commitment that awaits us must be to make Rome and the Jubilee paths welcoming for pilgrims, so that they can carry beauty within themselves in the best way along with prayer and at the same time work so that the appeals for hope launched by the Holy Father can be transformed into real and concrete actions,” he concluded.
The comment of the Governor of Lazio, Francesco Rocca
The comment of the Governor of the Lazio Region, Francesco Rocca, did not delay in arriving either. “Pope Francis’ words cannot leave anyone indifferent. All, believers of any religious confession and non-believers, are required at this moment to receive with great consideration the thought of the Holy Father – Rocca stated in a note – Peace, dialogue, hope, protection of life, birth rate, forgiveness, abolition of the death penalty, prisons, debt relief for the poorest countries, fight against hunger, protection of the elderly and the vulnerable are themes that represent a challenge for the entire world community. The Jubilee 2025 will be a great event of faith, but also an extraordinary opportunity for dialogue and reflection for all humanity.”
The Pope’s Bull
In addition to the reference to the Jubilee, in the Bull, Pope Francis speaks of hope in a world that is facing undoubtedly difficult times, “once again immersed in the tragedy of war.”
