Get Ready for the Public Transport Strike in Italy!
Are you a commuter in Italy? Brace yourself for some disruptions in your local public transport services this Friday, 18 October. A nationwide 24-hour strike has been called by the Si-Cobas trade union representing public transport workers, impacting bus, subway, and tram services across various cities.
In Milan, the strike will disrupt ATM transport services from 08:45 to 16:30 and again from 18:00 onwards. Meanwhile, Turin’s GTT public transport company plans to operate between 06:00-09:00 and 12:00-15:00 without disturbances.
However, Rome’s mobility agency has assured that there will be no strikes affecting the capital’s public transport services on Friday. So, you might still catch your bus or train on time in the Eternal City!
Si-Cobas has cited several reasons for the nationwide strike, including demands for pay hikes, protests against military spending and arms shipments, and a call to end the occupation of Palestinian land. This strike is part of a series of industrial actions affecting air travel, trains, and local public transport throughout October.
