Exciting news from today’s synod press briefing – the draft of the Final Document has officially been presented to the synod assembly. The atmosphere is buzzing with anticipation as this crucial moment unfolds.

Today, on October 21, the draft of the Final Document was distributed to all participants in the Synod, marking a significant milestone in the journey.
During the daily briefing at the Vatican’s Press Office, Dr Paolo Ruffini, Prefect of the Dicastery for Communication, and President of the Synod’s Commission for Information, shared, “We have reached a crucial moment.”
Moments of prayer and synodal initiatives
Dr Ruffini expressed the joy felt by the Synod members following the recent papal Mass in St. Peter’s Square, which coincided with World Mission Sunday and the canonization of 14 new saints.
The Synod’s journey was further enriched by a recent prayer session bringing together digital missionaries online, emphasizing the Church’s “Listening” initiative highlighted in the Instrumentum laboris.
Looking ahead, an exciting “Synod of Sport” event is scheduled, where discussions with athletes of diverse backgrounds will explore themes of peace and mutual service.
Presentation of the draft final document
Sheila Pires, Secretary of the Commission for Information, recapped today’s proceedings, highlighting the Synod’s final week on Synodality.
Starting with Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica, reflections from Cardinal Mario Grech emphasized the Synod as a new beginning to proclaim the Word of God.
Following a meditation on freedom and responsibility, the draft of the Final Document was formally presented, emphasizing the collaborative effort and confidentiality needed to foster positive discussions.
