Interreligious Harmony in Lebanon
A spirit of unity and solidarity was evident in Lebanon as leaders from various Christian, Muslim, and Druze communities gathered in Bkerké on Wednesday, October 16. In the face of ongoing Israeli aggression, these religious figures came together to discuss the situation and issued a joint statement calling for national unity to protect the country. They emphasized the importance of strengthening state institutions and the swift election of a president after a prolonged vacancy.
The leaders also appealed to the UN Security Council to intervene immediately for a ceasefire.
Historic Discovery in Armenia
An exciting archaeological find in Armenia has captured the world’s attention. A team of archaeologists uncovered the remains of one of the oldest Christian churches dating back to the 4th century at the site of Artaxata in the Ararat Plain. This discovery, announced on Friday, October 11, holds immense historical significance as it sheds light on the early Christian heritage of Armenia, the first country to adopt Christianity as its official religion in 301 AD.
Supporting Education in Baghdad
On Thursday, October 17, a momentous occasion took place in Baghdad as three eligible schools received grants from the Fund for Eastern Schools during a ceremony organized by the French embassy in Iraq. The Fund, established by the French government and L’Œuvre d’Orient, aims to provide financial assistance to Christian schools in the Middle East that promote the French language. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Fund’s noble mission to support education in the region.
