The recent airstrikes primarily targeted the Bekka Valley region. Additionally, there have been heavy clashes reported in the south between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli soldiers on the ground.
Prior to these incidents, the Israeli military intercepted numerous projectiles fired from northern Lebanon into Israel.
International concern is mounting over the situation in both Lebanon and the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Furthermore, 40 nations participating in the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon have jointly called for an immediate cessation of attacks on their forces.
Recent days have seen five peacekeeping soldiers wounded, four of them by Israeli fire.
In a unified statement, the leaders of France, Italy, and Spain condemned the attacks as “unjustifiable.” Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden urged Israel to refrain from targeting UN peacekeepers during operations against Hezbollah.
Moreover, over the weekend, at least 29 individuals lost their lives in Israeli airstrikes in the central and northern Gaza Strip. Palestinian health authorities estimate the total death toll over the past week to be around 150.
The escalation of violence in the region is deeply concerning. It is essential for all parties involved to prioritize the safety and well-being of civilians and to seek peaceful resolutions to end the conflict.
