Good evening everyone, thank you for joining us.
Welcome, welcome, welcome! Today is a special day as we welcome the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, to Rome. It’s always a pleasure to have you here!
It seems like seeing each other has become a habit now. Just a few weeks ago, we crossed paths at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and before that, we met at the Cernobbio forum in Italy. This isn’t just a formality; it shows our commitment to supporting Ukraine, a country that has faced immense challenges since the illegal and brutal attack by the Russian Federation 959 days ago.
Despite facing indiscriminate bombings and the upcoming harsh winter, Ukraine remains steadfast in its fight for freedom and democracy. The Ukrainian people deserve a future of peace, and it’s our duty as a global community to stand by them. Italy has been a strong ally to Ukraine from the beginning of this conflict, and we will continue to offer our support for as long as it’s needed.
Our support goes beyond just words; it includes military aid, energy sector support, and a commitment to building a pathway to a just peace. President Zelensky has shared his vision for the future, and we are eager to work together to make it a reality.
As we look ahead to a peaceful and prosperous future, we are excited to announce the next Ukraine Recovery Conference to be held in Rome on July 10 and 11, 2025. This event is crucial for paving the way to reconstruction and growth in Ukraine.
Let’s make it clear: Ukraine is not alone. Our presence here today, alongside President Zelensky, is a testament to our unwavering support. Thank you for your visit, Mr. President. Your presence has strengthened our commitment to standing by Ukraine through thick and thin.
Thank you all for being part of this important moment.
