The Role of the Bishop and People of God: Theological Insight at the Vatican Synod
As the Vatican Synod continues, it is now branching out into specialized sessions to further explore key reflections with theological and pastoral depth. The upcoming events on Wednesday, October 9, and October 16, will feature four public theological-pastoral forums that are open to both in-person attendees and live stream viewers.
Wednesday’s Theological-Pastoral Fora
On Wednesday afternoon from 6:00 PM to 7:45 PM, two simultaneous events will be held. The first event titled “People of God as the Subject of the Mission” will be hosted by the General Curia of the Jesuits. And the second event, focusing on “The Role and Authority of the Bishop in a Synodal Church,” will be hosted at the Augustinianum. Both events will feature theologians, experts in canon law, and bishops, with audience interaction during the latter part of each forum.
These sessions aim to delve into the theological and pastoral aspects of the Church’s faith, responding to the need for continued exploration on synodality. They provide an opportunity for theologians and canonists to contribute valuable insights to the ongoing Synod.
Theological-Pastoral Fora on October 16
On October 16, two more forums will be held in a similar format. One forum will focus on the “Mutual Relationship between the Local Church and the Universal Church,” while the other will discuss “The Exercise of Primacy and the Synod of Bishops.” These sessions will also be open to attendees and live stream viewers.
Participants of the Synod, accredited journalists from the Holy See Press Office, and anyone interested in the theological and pastoral discussions are encouraged to attend these insightful events. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to engage with expert perspectives on the role of the Bishop and the people of God in the Church.
