Rosary Church Dockyard in Mumbai Embraces Synodality in Parish Feast Celebrations
The Rosary Church in Dockyard, Mumbai, recently celebrated its parish feast with a special focus on embracing the Pope’s call for a more synodal Church. The festivities incorporated the synodal process into its celebrations, reflecting on the theme ‘Journeying with Mary towards a Synodal Church’.
Fr. Nigel Barrett, the parish priest, expressed his hopes for the community to fully embrace synodality, especially as the Synod second session takes place in Rome. He emphasized the importance of faith, gratitude, and hope in coming together as a parish community.
The week-long celebration included various activities such as a night vigil led by the Small Christian Communities, a biblical quiz, trivia on the Rosary, and a historical exploration of the Parish. The highlight of the celebration will be on October 13, where people from all over the diocese have been invited to join in praying the Rosary as a community.
Fr. Barrett hopes that the parish will become a vibrant and joyful community actively participating in the Church’s mission and reaching out to those in need. Seeking inspiration from Our Lady of the Rosary, the parish aims to be beacons of light in a troubled world.
Furthermore, the Catholic community in Dockyard is committed to addressing not only spiritual needs but also material needs of its less fortunate members. Initiatives such as the parish food project and providing medical aid exemplify the parishioners’ embodiment of Gospel values, ensuring that all members experience support, dignity, and care in their lives.
As Rosary Church Dockyard continues to walk the path towards synodality and a more unified Church, the parish feast serves as a reminder of the community’s dedication to faith, unity, and service.
