Severe weather is hitting the Liguria region with heavy rain since last night in Campo Ligure, where 97 millimeters of rain fell in just one hour. An orange alert has been issued for the provinces of Genova and Savona. The rivers in La Spezia are causing more concern, with a red alert being activated at noon. Many schools in Liguria have been closed due to the weather conditions, including the capital.
In other news, a journalist from Tg3 was attacked in Lebanon near Sidon, resulting in the death of the local driver due to a heart attack. The situation escalated when the journalist was threatened by locals, leading to the driver’s fatal cardiac arrest.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine, Italian journalists Stefania Battistini and Simone Traini have been issued official arrest warrants by Russia for allegedly entering the country illegally while reporting on the war. This move has been condemned as an attack on press freedom.
Lastly, a tragic incident occurred in Crotone, where a 44-year-old man was shot and killed by a police officer after a car chase. The officer claimed self-defense after being attacked by the victim’s father. The community is in shock, with the victim’s family and friends resorting to violence against the officer.
