Bishop Mounir’s parents were brutally murdered when he was just 5 years old, yet he chose to forgive their murderer and spread a message of reconciliation in the face of conflict.

Lebanon, a country that has been ravaged by war for fifty years, has faced religious and confessional conflicts. However, Bishop Mounir believes that Lebanon is a message of peace, a place where people of different faiths can coexist harmoniously. Despite the ongoing violence and hatred, Bishop Mounir emphasizes the importance of forgiveness and peace.
Sharing his personal experience of forgiveness, Bishop Mounir recounted the tragic event of his parents’ murder. His aunt, a nun, guided him and his siblings towards forgiveness, encouraging them to pray for the forgiveness of the perpetrators. This act of forgiveness shaped Bishop Mounir’s life, leading him to spread the message of reconciliation and peace.
Reflecting on his journey, Bishop Mounir spoke about the challenges of forgiveness in a war-torn country. He emphasized the need to move past hatred and vengeance towards a future of peace and unity. Despite the difficulties, Bishop Mounir believes in the power of forgiveness and reconciliation.
