Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed in an exclusive interview with Fox News that he has received “very direct information” from Donald Trump that the former US president will support Kiev if re-elected to the White House. “I don’t know what will happen after the elections and who will be the president… But I have received very direct information from Donald Trump that he will be on our side, supporting Ukraine in the war against Moscow,” he stated.
Zelensky, who was in the United States for the UN General Assembly, presented his “Plan for Victory” to Trump during a closed-door meeting on Friday, after the tycoon had promised to work with both Ukraine and Russia to end their conflict. The Ukrainian leader, who also met with Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden, said he is seeking unified support from the US against Russian invasion and will not endorse either party in the US elections. “I don’t want to be involved in the election period… I don’t want to alienate one side or the other of the Americans,” Zelensky told Fox News.
In a later speech, Zelensky said: “We are coming back home from the United States. Many tasks have been accomplished during the visit. I thank President Biden for the largest aid package ever, of nearly $8 billion, which includes weapons for the front and air defenses for our cities, as well as the expansion of the F-16 training mission.” This was reported on the official Ukrainian presidency website and in Ukrainian media. “I presented the Plan for Victory and we agreed that we will discuss the next steps with our allies in the Ramstein format in Germany, October is the time for decisions,” added Zelensky, who went on to say: “I thank the US Congress for their resolute support and willingness to help us, to help us win. Senators and members of the House of Representatives and everyone who sees what can be achieved together. We have received full support for our strategy of approaching peace through strength.”
