Welcome to the 268th Meeting of the Permanent Commission
The Permanent Commission convened for its 268th meeting on 26 and 27 September at the Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE) headquarters in Madrid.
Save the Date: Vocations Congress, 7-9 February 2025
One of the highlights of the agenda was the announcement of the National Vocations Congress, “Who am I for? Assembly of those called to the mission”, scheduled to take place in Madrid from 7 to 9 February. This Congress marks the culmination of the 2021-2025 pastoral plan.
Monsignor Luis Argüello, President of the CEE, shared insights on the preparation for this Congress, aiming to revive vocations within the Church and promote the spirituality of vocation.
With limited places per diocese, the Congress expects around 3,500 participants from across the nation to gather at the Madrid Arena pavilion and the Satellite pavilion in the Casa de Campo.

Coming Soon: Ecumenical Celebration for the 1700th Anniversary of the Council of Nicaea
The Commission approved an ecumenical celebration to commemorate the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, focusing on the Creed, to be held in November 2025.
Additionally, the Commission endorsed a note on “intergenerational healing” by the Episcopal Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith.
Highlighting Marriage Week
The recent communication campaign for Marriage Week 2024 received praise for its efforts to showcase Christian marriage’s importance and beauty in society.
Plans were also approved to make Marriage Week an annual Church campaign in February.
Additional Updates from the Meeting
Discussions included updates on Ábside Media (TRECE and COPE), the Spanish Institute of Foreign Missions, and the National Catholic Confederation of Parents and Parents of Students. The Commission also reviewed the economic proposals for the upcoming year.
The Permanent Assembly approved the agenda for the next Plenary Assembly and made various appointments for key roles within the Church.
New Appointments:
- Cecilia Ruiloba Castelazo – Director of the secretariat of the Episcopal Subcommission for Universities and Culture.
- Luis Miguel Rojo Septién – Delegate of Caritas Spain.
- José Cristóbal Moreno García – National counselor of the Federation of the Apostolate of Divine Mercy in Spain.
- José Ruiz Pérez – President of the Federation of the Apostolate of Divine Mercy in Spain.
- Marta Ventura Arasanz – National president of the Spanish Federation of Hospitalities of Our Lady of Lourdes.
- Jorge López Martínez – Ecclesiastical advisor of the Work of Apostolic Cooperation of the Hispanic-American Secular Community (OCASHA).
