The Holy See Press Office made the announcement, detailing that all of Pope Francis’ audiences for September 23 had been canceled. The statement mentioned that the Pope chose to rest as he is suffering from a mild flu and wanted to ensure his health ahead of the visit abroad.
The official statement read, “Due to a mild flu-like condition and as a precautionary measure considering the upcoming visit, the papal audiences scheduled for today are canceled.”
