A Vision Turned Into Reality
The Pope shared his vision of creating a tangible model named Borgo Laudato Si’ to promote ecological conversion. The properties of the Villas of Castel Gandolfo were chosen to host this laboratory for testing formative content related to environmental sustainability.
The Birth of the Laudato Si’ Centre
In early 2023, the Laudato Si’ Centre for Higher Education was established as a scientific and educational body to promote sustainable economy and integral human formation. It operates independently and aligns with the principles of the Encyclical.
Pioneering Efforts for Sustainability
The Centre began developing the Borgo project with a focus on inclusive education in integral ecology, circular economy, and sustainability. Agriculture plays a significant role in the project, emphasizing sustainability, biodiversity, and innovation.
Striving for Excellence
The project also includes the development of a vineyard for wine production, aiming to merge tradition and innovation. The Centre collaborates with experts to ensure excellence and sustainability in all endeavors.
Gratitude and Collaboration
Pope Francis expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the project and highlighted the importance of upholding the principles of integral ecology outlined in his Encyclical, Laudato Si’. He emphasized the need to restore harmonious relations between humanity and Creation through responsible stewardship.
