Welcome to Rome: Ryanair’s Request for Increased Flights at Ciampino Airport
Exciting news for travelers to Rome! Ryanair, the low-cost airline, has made a bold request to the Italian government to double the daily flight limit at Rome’s Ciampino airport from 65 to 130, just in time for the upcoming Jubilee Year 2025.
Michael O’Leary, the CEO of Ryanair, presented this proposal in the heart of Rome, emphasizing that this increase in flights would significantly boost visitor numbers to the Eternal City during the Jubilee celebrations, with an expected influx of 32 million tourists and pilgrims.
O’Leary expressed his frustration at the current limit of 65 flights per day at Ciampino airport, which he believes is holding back the city’s growth potential. To support his request, he highlighted the benefits of increasing daily flights to 130, which would enhance traffic, create job opportunities, and boost tourism in Rome.
Despite the existing noise pollution concerns, Ryanair assured that their flights are operated by modern and quiet aircraft, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding areas. The airline’s focus on affordable fares aligns with their goal of making the Jubilee Year a success for all travelers.
In addition to this development, Ryanair also announced 10 new winter routes from Milan’s Malpensa airport, expanding their network and offering more travel options to destinations such as Athens, Budapest, Paris, and Marrakech.
