Welcome to Our Blog!
In a profound and inspiring message to the new generations, Pope Francis highlights the immense challenges they face in today’s world – conflicts, inequalities, and exploitation. He urges us to shed our indifference and embark on a meaningful spiritual journey, not as casual tourists but as dedicated pilgrims in pursuit of a higher purpose.
Today, we are privileged to share the text of the message from Pope Francis to the young people of the world on the occasion of the XXXIX World Youth Day, to be celebrated in the individual Churches on November 24, 2024, under the theme: “Those who wait walk in the Lord without tiring” (Is 40:31).
Pope’s Message
Those who hope in the Lord will run and not be weary (cf. Is 40:31)
Dear young people!
Last year, we embarked on a journey of hope towards the Great Jubilee by reflecting on Saint Paul’s words, “Rejoice in hope” (Rom 12:12). As we prepare for the Jubilee pilgrimage of 2025, let us draw inspiration from the words of the prophet Isaiah, who proclaims, “Those who hope in the Lord… will run and not be weary” (Is 40:31). These words resonate from the Book of Consolation (Is 40-55), heralding a new era of hope and renewal for God’s people.
In today’s tumultuous times marked by profound challenges, especially affecting the youth, Pope Francis reminds us of the road to hope amidst despair and uncertainty. Despite the burdens we carry, there is a highway that the Lord is opening before us, inviting us to journey with joy and faith.
1. The Pilgrimage of Life and Its Challenges
The prophet Isaiah speaks of walking without tiring, reflecting on the pilgrimage of life. Life itself is a journey, a quest for happiness and fulfillment. Material success may satisfy momentarily, but true transcendence lies in a deeper connection with the infinite. As Pope Francis emphasizes, the weariness of the journey should not deter us but inspire us to become pilgrims of hope.
2. Pilgrims in the Desert
As we face challenges in our pilgrimage, moments of crisis and desert experiences are inevitable. These trials purify our hope and faith, leading us to introspection and growth. In times of weariness, the Lord sustains us with His presence and nourishment, symbolized by the Eucharist, the true food for our journey.
3. From Tourists to Pilgrims
Pope Francis invites the youth to embark on a transformative journey of love and discovery, not as mere tourists but as true pilgrims. Let us immerse ourselves fully in the beauty of life, seeking meaning and purpose along the way. The upcoming Jubilee Year beckons us to make an inward journey towards our final destination with gratitude, seeking, and penance.
4. Pilgrims of Hope for the Mission
In conclusion, Pope Francis calls us to be missionaries of joy, embracing the mercy and forgiveness of God. With the image of the Church’s open arms in mind, may we extend love and welcome to those around us. As we journey forward, let us draw inspiration from the saints who have gone before us, encouraging us to persevere in hope and love.
As we continue on this pilgrimage of life, may we find rest and solace in the arms of Jesus, renewing our strength for the journey ahead. Let us walk without tiring, guided by faith and inspired by the examples of the saints. Together, let us embrace the future with hope and love, making our pilgrimage a testament to our enduring faith.
