Reflecting on Pope Francis’ Apostolic Journey to Timor-Leste
As the papal plane took off from Dili International Airport, Pope Francis bid farewell to Timor-Leste, concluding his three-day Apostolic Journey to one of the most Catholic countries in the world.
During his time in Timor-Leste, Pope Francis met with thousands of young people at the Convention Centre in Dili, emphasizing the values of freedom, commitment, and fraternity. He encouraged the youth to embrace freedom as a means to do good for others, urging them to be responsible and free protagonists of their nation’s future.
With over 95% of the population in Timor-Leste identifying as Catholic, Pope Francis’ visit was met with overwhelming support. Approximately 600,000 individuals gathered at the Esplanade of Taci Tolu near Dili to attend his Mass, reflecting the strong faith of the Timorese people.
Now, the Pope is en route to Singapore, where he will spend the next three days. His visit will begin with a private meeting with his Jesuit brothers serving in the country, followed by public events starting on Thursday. These events include meetings with civil authorities and a Mass at the national stadium.
Pope Francis’ journey continues to inspire and uplift those he encounters, spreading messages of love, peace, and unity wherever he goes.
