After a fruitful visit to Papua New Guinea, Pope Francis is now en route to Timor Leste for the third leg of his journey. The Pope’s plane departed from Port Moresby’s Jacksons International Airport and is expected to arrive in Dili later today.
Before his departure, Pope Francis had a final meeting with Prime Minister James Marape of Papua New Guinea, reflecting on the meaningful encounters during his stay in the country.
Having completed his visits to Indonesia and PNG, the Pope is now halfway through his inspiring journey, with stops in Timor Leste and Indonesia awaiting him.
Exciting Schedule in Timor-Leste
Upon arrival in Timor-Leste, the Pope will be greeted with a warm welcome ceremony outside the Presidential Palace. Subsequently, he will engage in a series of meetings and events, including a gathering with government officials, civil society members, and the diplomatic corps.
Highlights of the Pope’s itinerary in Timor-Leste include visits to the Irmãs Alma School, a meeting with religious leaders at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and a Mass at the Esplanade of Taci Tolu.
