In a display of faith and dedication, many pilgrims walked for days, overcoming challenges due to the lack of roads, just to be part of this historic visit.
Visiting a local parish in the Tokarara neighborhood, the anticipation and joy among the people hosting the Pope are almost tangible. And Pope Francis, unfazed by his busy schedule following his visit to Jakarta, Indonesia, is ready to embrace the people of Papua New Guinea.
What to Expect in the Coming Days
Throughout his time in Papua New Guinea, Pope Francis is set to meet government officials, local authorities, children with disabilities, and individuals in challenging circumstances. His packed schedule also includes visits to the Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians and a memorable Mass at Sir John Guise Stadium.
On Sunday, the Pope will fly to Vanimo, meeting faithful and missionaries before returning to Port Moresby. The Apostolic Journey will culminate with a special encounter with young people on Monday morning.
