Church Bombing in Jenin
The city of Jenin in the West Bank is currently facing intense bombardment by the Israeli army, with the Palestinian refugee camp being the main target. However, the destruction extends beyond, with reports of significant damage to a Catholic church and convent in the city center. This complex had already suffered damage in a previous military incursion months ago.
New Armenian Catholic Bishop
Pope Francis has appointed Archbishop Kevork Nora-doun-guian as the new bishop for Armenian Catholics in Armenia, Georgia, Russia, and Eastern Europe. Born in Syria, he has served in various positions across the region, filling the vacancy left by the departure of His Beatitude Raphael Minassian in 2021.
Chaldean Ordination in France
France welcomed two new priests into the Chaldean Church on Sunday, September 1, 2024. The ordination ceremony took place at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Sarcelles, near Paris, with Cardinal Louis Raphaël Sako, Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church, officiating the ceremony after traveling from Iraq for the special event.
