Pope Francis Sends Condolences to Cardinal Parolin on the Passing of His Mother
On Tuesday, Pope Francis sent a heartfelt telegram to Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, offering his condolences on the passing of his mother, Ada Miotti Parolin. Ada, who was 96 years old, passed away on Saturday, August 31st, and her funeral is being held this morning in the parish church of Schiavon, in northern Italy.

During his 45th Apostolic Journey in Asia and Oceania, Pope Francis, who just arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia, expressed his spiritual closeness to Cardinal Parolin and his family. In the telegram, the Pope assured them of his prayers and invoked eternal joy for Ada in the arms of the Father.
Cardinal Parolin, who had to postpone his departure to Jakarta, is expected to join Pope Francis after the funeral. The Pope sends his paternal blessing to the mourning family, invoking consolation in faith in the risen Christ.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Cardinal Parolin and his family during this time of loss.
