Welcome Professor Paolo Garonna, the New President of Centesimus Annus pro Pontifice Foundation!
Exciting news! Professor Paolo Garonna has been appointed as the new President of the Centesimus Annus pro Pontifice Foundation, a prestigious Vatican-chartered academic institution dedicated to promoting the legacy of St. John Paul II’s social encyclical of the same name. This exciting new appointment comes as Professor Anna Maria Tarantola steps down after serving as President since 2019.
Professor Garonna, a highly esteemed member of the Foundation’s Scientific Committee since 2008, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his new role. With a background in Economic Policy and a strong commitment to Catholic social teaching, Professor Garonna is well-equipped to lead the Foundation into a new era of growth and impact.
Throughout his career, Professor Garonna has held various key positions, including Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, Director General of ISTAT (Italy’s national Statistical office), Chief Economist at Confindustria (Italy’s main business association), and Secretary General of the Italian Federation of Banks, Insurance, and Finance. His expertise in economics and finance, coupled with his deep understanding of Catholic social teaching, make him the perfect choice to guide the Foundation forward.
We look forward to witnessing the great work that Professor Garonna will accomplish as the new President of the Centesimus Annus pro Pontifice Foundation. Congratulations and best wishes on this exciting new chapter!
