Welcome to a new chapter in education and youth empowerment as Pope Francis prepares to inaugurate the first regional headquarters of Scholas Occurrentes in Southeast Asia. Around 200 Indonesian students are eagerly awaiting his arrival at the “Grha Pemuda” Youth House in Jakarta during his upcoming visit from Sept. 3 to 6.
Scholas Occurrentes, a global educational initiative founded by Pope Francis in 2001, focuses on engaging young people in education, arts, and sports. The program promotes unity in diversity and the culture of encounter, values that will be exemplified during the Pope’s visit to Indonesia.
During his visit, Pope Francis will meet with students from various backgrounds, schools, and religions to emphasize the importance of community and collaboration. The unveiling of the Scholas Citizenship program in Southeast Asia, in partnership with Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, will further empower young leaders through education and training.
Originating in Buenos Aires, Scholas Occurrentes has grown to partner with over 450,000 schools worldwide, bridging cultural divides and promoting peace. The organization’s efforts in engaging with local communities, such as planting an olive tree in Genggelang village in Lombok, exemplify its commitment to global unity.
As Scholas Occurrentes expands its reach to Southeast Asia, the impact of its mission will continue to inspire and empower young leaders to create positive change in their communities. Stay tuned for more updates on this transformative journey!
