The recently launched book titled “Kata Bertuah Paus Fransiskus” (The Magic Words of Pope Francis), authored by Father Valentinus “Troy” Robi, SDV, was unveiled just two weeks before the Papal Visit.
Having been inspired by Pope Francis’ thought-provoking statements on societal matters during his studies in Naples, Father Robi, a young Indonesian Vocationist priest currently based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, felt compelled to compile the Pontiff’s teachings into a comprehensive book.
Supported by the Yayasan Karsa Cipta Asa Foundation, this publication marks Father Robi’s debut as an author and adds to the collective excitement in Indonesia surrounding the Papal Visit.
Local publishers, including Kompas and PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama, are also reissuing previous titles on Pope Francis in response to Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo’s call for a deeper engagement with the Pope’s teachings beyond his public Masses.
Building on this momentum, Father Ferry Sutrisna Wijaja Pr from the Bandung Diocese has been instrumental in promoting a holistic understanding of Pope Francis’ impact through the availability of various books in Bahasa Indonesia discussing significant documents like Laudato si’ and Fratelli tutti.
The enthusiasm extends to the digital realm with engaging webinars featuring prominent figures such as the Indonesian Ambassador to the Holy See and Fr. Ag. Purnama, MSF Superior General, exploring the relevance of the Pope’s teachings in anticipation of his visit.
Further enriching the cultural experience, Father Yustinus Sulistiadi Pr in Jakarta has organized historical site visits to educate journalists and media influencers on locations significant to the Pope’s itinerary, such as the Jakarta Cathedral and the historic Grha Pemuda tied to the nationalist Youth Oath of 1928.
As preparations intensify for the upcoming visit, the Jakarta Cathedral Church is making special arrangements to ensure the Pope’s wheelchair accessibility, allowing for meaningful interactions with the congregation.
