The Catholic Church in India is gearing up for the momentous Jubilee 2025 celebrations with a special training program for Diocesan Contact Persons (DCPs).
Hosted on August 19-20 at the Gianodaya New Pastoral Centre in Jalandhar, Punjab, the Jubilee training program was a joint initiative by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), Pontifical Mission Organizations in India, and Communio.
Devised by Fr. Stephen Alathara, Deputy Secretary General of CCBI, and the National Facilitating Team, the program focused on empowering DCPs with the necessary knowledge and strategies for the upcoming Jubilee year.
Participants delved into sessions highlighting the spiritual significance of the Jubilee, as well as practical planning techniques and communication strategies to effectively commemorate the event.
The discussions also encompassed the CCBI Preparatory Document, themes for parish feast novenas, and the calendar for Jubilee 2025. Additionally, a resource library and toolkit were provided to aid in the preparations.
Fr. Robert Joseph Gonsalves of the Diocese of Vasai expressed, “The program has equipped us with tools for Jubilee 2025 preparations,” while Mr. Sameer Lakra from the Diocese of Simla-Chandigarh drew inspiration from Pope Francis’s outreach efforts.
The training culminated with a closing speech by Bishop Agnelo Gracias, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Jalandhar, underscoring the pivotal role DCPs play in ensuring the success of the Jubilee.
Overseen by Fr. Antony Thuruthiyil, Regional Deputy Secretary General for the North Region, the training was a valuable opportunity for DCPs to prepare diligently for the upcoming Jubilee celebrations.
