Welcome to Romadailynews Radio News!
Tonight, from the newsroom, I’m Giuliano Ferrigno. Let’s start off in Palermo where a robotic submarine from the Coast Guard is on a mission to locate survivors of a sailboat that was sunk by a waterspout. The underwater robot is currently working to search for the missing individuals, including the owner of the boat, Michael Gates. The robot, boasting 6-7 hours of autonomy, can operate up to 300 meters deep, equipped with advanced technology to investigate and record detailed video images to aid in reconstructing the incident for the Imerese Prosecutor’s Office.
In other news, the Assyrians were attacked in the night at a weapons storage site in Lebanon, resulting in 1 death and 20 injuries. The UN accuses the organization of placing military resources in populated areas, exploiting the Lebanese civilians. Negotiations for a ceasefire are at a standstill, with talks on the verge of collapse. Meanwhile, six octogenarians were found dead in a tunnel, leaving authorities with the task of filling in the gaps in Ukraine.
Moving closer to home, it has been three weeks since the tragic death of Sharon Dezeni, the 33-year-old woman who was fatally stabbed while walking alone on the night of July 29-30. Investigations continue at a feverish pace, delving into the victim’s personal life in search of a clue that could provide a breakthrough. Various leads have surfaced, but none have proven fruitful. Family members, including Sharon’s older sister and younger brother, have been summoned for questioning at the police station.
