Welcome to Synodality Asia: A New Hub for Synodal Resources in Asia
Cardinal Sebastian Francis of Penang, chairman of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences – Office of Social Communications (FABC-OSC), recently launched the new website, “synodalityasia,” in an online event attended by social communication leaders from across Asia.
Developed and managed by the FABC-OSC, synodalityasia aims to serve as a central hub for all things Synod-related in Asia, fostering greater engagement among diverse communities in the region.
This bold initiative aligns with Pope Francis’ vision of broadening the Synod on Synodality to include a global consultation involving all people of God.
Featuring multiple vernacular translations of synodal documents, insightful commentaries, and dedicated social media platforms, the website is designed to amplify Asian voices and perspectives on synodality.
Cardinal Francis emphasized the crucial role of the website in facilitating a wide-ranging and inclusive consultation process across the culturally diverse Asian continent.
During the launch event, Archbishop Thomas D’Souza, a member of the FABC-OSC, lauded the website as a vital link between the Vatican and the Asian Churches, ensuring efficient dissemination of relevant information to the intended audience.
Fr. George Plathottam, Executive Secretary of the FABC-OSC, highlighted the website’s versatility in hosting a range of content, including news, commentaries, translations, infographics, and social media activities that reflect the rich diversity of the local Church.
Dr. Thierry Bonaventura, Communication Manager at the Synod Secretariat, emphasized the significance of the Synod Asia platform in promoting dialogue, participation, and connectivity among the faithful.
The FABC-OSC invites all interested individuals to explore the Synod Asia website and engage with its social media channels to stay updated on the latest news, events, and resources related to the Synod in the Asian context.
