Countdown to Pope Francis’ Visit: Singapore Prepares for Historic Event
As the excitement builds with less than 40 days to go before Pope Francis arrives in Singapore, the Archdiocese is buzzing with extensive preparations for the momentous occasion. Volunteers from various committees are coming together to organize one of the largest religious events the city has ever seen.

CatholicNews SG, the official news site of the Archdiocese of Singapore, recently reported that the Catholic Foundation has unveiled the official Pope Francis Singapore 2024 souvenirs. From t-shirts to umbrellas, hats, water bottles, electric fans, and limited-edition prayer kits, the range of merchandise is now available online and at three pop-up stores.
The preparations don’t stop there. The Papal Mass Choir, consisting of 1,600 singers from parishes and Catholic schools, has been hard at work since July 5, rehearsing across six churches. A final rehearsal in September will bring together the choir and a schools’ brass band, creating an ensemble of 1,800 members.
The Stadium Subcommittee also met recently to ensure that the National Stadium is ready for the Papal Mass. They discussed arrangements for wardens, security, traffic control, and medical teams to ensure the smooth running of the event.
Meanwhile, the Media and Communications Subcommittee has been tirelessly spreading the word about the Papal visit, utilizing various platforms to keep the public informed and document the preparations. Writers, videographers, and social media editors have been working around the clock to ensure that every detail is captured.
The Ticketing Subcommittee has also been hard at work addressing registration issues and encouraging group participation for the ballot system. In a recent initiative, the team visited five parishes to assist parishioners with their myCatholicSG accounts, making it easier for them to take part in the event.
As the clock ticks down to the historic visit of Pope Francis, Singapore is gearing up for an unforgettable experience that will leave a lasting impact on all those who are fortunate enough to be a part of it.
