Enough with bullying, it has devastating consequences: it can destroy people.” This is the plea of Imane Khelif, the Algerian boxer at the center of the most striking case of Paris 2024, addressed “to people all over the world.” “My family back home is worried in Algeria,” said the intersex athlete to Sntv, talking about the controversies and suspicions about her female gender.
“I hear from them twice a week, I hope they are not too deeply hurt by all this. Winning the gold would be my best response.” Khelif had been excluded from the World Championships by the Iba after a DNA test, but admitted to the Games by the IOC.

“I appeal to all the people of the world,” Khelif says in an interview with American TV. “Respect the principles of the Games, those contained in the Olympic Charter: reject bullying on every athlete, because it has serious consequences. It can destroy people, kill thoughts, spirit, and mind, and can divide peoples.”
The Iba insists, Khelif and Lin are men
Imane Khelif and Lin Uon Ting “are men”: the International Boxing Association (Iba) is back at it and for the first time explicitly declares the result of the two tests on the boxers excluded from the World Championships and now competing at the Olympics. In a press conference in Paris, with Russian President Umar Kremlev on video call, Iba officials revealed some details of the tests conducted. “A first blood test in 2022 revealed anomalies, later confirmed in 2023: the two boxers had an abnormal ‘karyotype,’ indicating that they are male,” added Iba’s medical committee president, Ioannis Fillipatos.
