Another guaranteed medal for Italy, and it’s a historic one for tennis.
Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini are in the final for the women’s doubles gold at Paris 2024, after defeating the Czech pair Karolina Muchova-Linda Noskova 6-3 6-2 in the semifinals.
For tennis, this is a historic Olympic medal as the last one was won 100 years ago by Uberto de Morpurgo, who won bronze in Paris 1924.
“It’s a dream come true, it’s incredible. I’ve always had this desire for an Olympic medal, and to achieve it on my last attempt is insane. I am too happy,” said Sara Errani.
“I’m realizing how important the Olympics are: it’s at the top of the events,” added Paolini, who was a finalist in 2024 at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
“And now we want the gold,” said the two Italian tennis players.
