Good afternoon everyone, and thank you for being here.
I want to express my gratitude to Premier Li Qiang for his warm welcome and insightful words as we gather for the seventh edition of the Italy-China Business Forum. It’s heartening to see representatives from leading Italian and Chinese organizations come together in one room.
This strong turnout underscores the shared interest we have in strengthening the partnership between Italy and China. As we reflect on our past achievements and challenges, this forum presents a great opportunity for us to work towards a more balanced and mutually beneficial trade relationship.
As we commemorate two significant anniversaries this year – the twentieth anniversary of our Global Strategic Partnership and the 700th anniversary of the death of Marco Polo – we are reminded of the deep-rooted ties between our two nations that have fostered economic and trade cooperation over the centuries.
Despite the complexities of the current international landscape, characterized by geopolitical tensions, global crises, and technological disruptions, our economic ties remain strong. However, we must adapt to the changing times and embrace new technologies such as artificial intelligence that have the potential to transform industries and create new challenges.
It is crucial that we collaborate transparently and constructively to address the risks associated with economic security, job displacement, and wealth concentration. By upholding principles of reciprocity and fairness, we can build a sustainable partnership that benefits both nations.
Italy and China share a rich cultural heritage and a tradition of excellence in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering, and biomedicine. Strengthening economic cooperation means encouraging investments that lead to job creation, innovation, and sustainable growth.
With a focus on quality, creativity, and tradition, ‘Made in Italy’ products exemplify our commitment to excellence. By promoting these products on global markets, we can showcase the unique blend of Italian culture and innovation to the world.
As we strive to rebalance investments and foster collaboration in key sectors such as electric mobility and renewables, we are paving the way for a more competitive and attractive business environment in Italy.
As I conclude, I am optimistic about the future of Italy-China relations and the potential for continued growth and collaboration. Together, with determination and mutual respect, we can chart a course towards a more prosperous partnership. Thank you all for your participation in this Business Forum.
