Recently, the French police revealed that the fiber optic networks of several operators in six departments were sabotaged. Fortunately, Paris was not targeted in the attack.
During a “nighttime sabotage” on the fiber optic networks of various French operators such as Free and Sfr, several departments were affected in the night of Sunday. The heart of the Olympic Games, Paris, was left unharmed as the target was set on Bouches-du-Rhône, Aude, Oise, Hérault, Meuse, and Drôme, as reported by the authorities.
These incidents occurred just days after sabotage on several high-speed railway lines caused chaos in the stations on Friday morning, just hours before the Olympic Games opening ceremony.
On Sunday, an extreme left-wing activist was arrested at a French railway site Sncf in Oissel (Seine-Maritime), confirmed police sources on Monday. This arrest followed the series of sabotages earlier in the week which disrupted the Tgv high-speed trains. The individual was found with “access keys to the Sncf technical rooms”, “bolt cutters”, a “universal key set”, as well as manuals and leaflets linked to the far left, according to police.
