Ikuméni had the incredible opportunity to participate in Genfest 2024 “TOGETHER TO CARE”, a global gathering organized by the Focolare Movement every 6 years to inspire young people worldwide to work towards a united world.
This year, the event took place in Aparecida, Brazil, from July 12 to 24 and was divided into three phases: “social action”, “live the experience – Celebrat”, and “United World Community”. Ikuméni played a significant role in phases 2 and 3, sharing their experiences and projects with other young participants.
Thanks to the support of various churches, institutions, and the Focolare movement, 14 young individuals who had previously participated in Ikuméni were able to attend Genfest and showcase their journey and testimonies. They actively engaged in different activities, including leading workshops, facilitating discussions, and showcasing the Ikuméni training itinerary.
During phase 2, they shared their experience with over 4,000 young attendees, while in phase 3, they led conversations and workshops on topics like intercultural dialogue, leadership for collaboration, and good ecumenical practices.
The young members of Ikuméni also presented a “Conversation Menu” to encourage meaningful exchanges and discussions among participants.
At the “Celebrat” event, they shared their stories and projects, highlighting how Ikuméni had helped them in their journey towards unity and collaboration. Through videos and presentations, they inspired others to transcend boundaries and work together for a better world.

During the final days of Genfest, Ikuméni hosted workshops, TED Talks, and immersive experiences to strengthen international networks and promote unity among diverse groups and institutions.
They showcased their workshop on young leadership for collaboration and encounter, emphasizing the importance of fraternity and solidarity in creating a more united world.
As the event concluded, the participants reflected on their experience and the impact of Ikuméni on their lives and communities. The event marked a significant milestone for Ikuméni as they look forward to welcoming more youth to their training program in the coming years.
