Welcome to a Sunday Reflection!
Dear brothers and sisters, happy Sunday!
In today’s liturgy, the Gospel passage from Mark (6:30-34) speaks of the apostles returning from their mission and gathering around Jesus. They report back to Him about what they have accomplished. Jesus then invites them to rest in a deserted place, but their plans are interrupted by a crowd waiting for Him. Despite His initial intention to rest, Jesus feels compassion for the people and begins to teach.
This juxtaposition of rest and compassion is a powerful reminder for us to pause and reflect on the importance of balancing our rest and our care for others. It is easy to get caught up in the busyness of life, becoming overly focused on tasks and results. But Jesus warns us against falling into the trap of “doing” at the expense of our well-being and our ability to show compassion.
Jesus’ call to rest is not a call to retreat from the world but rather an invitation to recharge and refocus. Only by taking time to rest and receive God’s grace can we cultivate a heart of compassion that responds to the needs of others. This call to rest in the midst of our daily activities challenges us to find moments of inner peace in the midst of life’s noise and distractions.
As we navigate our busy lives, let us ask ourselves: do we prioritize moments of rest and reflection? Do we make space for stillness amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life? May the Holy Virgin guide us in finding moments of rest in the Spirit and in showing compassion to those around us.

After the Angelus
As we look ahead to the Olympic Games in Paris and the Paralympic Games, let us remember the power of sport to unite people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. May these events be a symbol of the inclusive world we strive to create, and may the athletes inspire peace and unity through their actions.
Let us also pray for peace in areas of conflict around the world, including Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Myanmar, and others. War is a defeat, and it is our collective responsibility to work towards peace and reconciliation.
Wishing you all a blessed Sunday and please keep me in your prayers. Enjoy your lunch and arrivederci!
