Pope Francis Appoints Bishop-elect Josep-Lluís Serrano Pentinat to Diocese of Urgell

Exciting news from the Vatican as Pope Francis announced the appointment of Bishop-elect Josep-Lluís Serrano Pentinat as the new Coadjutor Bishop of Urgell, Spain.
Bishop-elect Serrano Pentinat has an impressive background, having served as the special secretary to Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra in the Substitute for General Affairs, as well as a Counselor of the Nunciature in the Section for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State.
The announcement was made by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin on Friday, with confirmation later provided by the Holy See Press Office.
Born on March 19, 1977, in Tivissa, Tarragona Province, within the Diocese of Tortosa, Bishop-elect Serrano Pentinat began his journey by studying Philosophy and Theology at the Major Seminary of Tortosa.
After being ordained a priest on April 21, 2002, he has held various significant positions, including being a parish priest in several locations and serving as a lecturer at the Major Seminary.
Bishop-elect Serrano Pentinat has an impressive academic record, obtaining a licentiate and doctorate in Dogmatic Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, as well as studying at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy. Additionally, he holds a licentiate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Lateran University.
His experience also extends internationally, having served as a secretary of the Nunciature in Mozambique, Nicaragua, and Brazil. Since 2019, he has been a Counselor of the Nunciature in the Section for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State.
