Everything You Need to Know About Rome Airports
Rome is serviced by two commercial airports: Roma Fiumicino Leonardo Da Vinci (FCO) and Roma Ciampino (CIA).
Roma Fiumicino is the largest of Rome’s airports, catering to 40 million passengers annually and located 30km southwest of Rome’s centre. On the other hand, Ciampino, situated just 17km south of the centre, has poorer connectivity to the city due to lack of a direct train line.
Getting from Roma Fiumicino to Rome City Centre
As of July 2024, taxis from Roma Fiumicino to the centre of Rome are fixed at €55. The most cost-effective way to reach the city from Fiumicino is by train, with the Leonardo Express being the quickest option at €14 one-way.
For a slightly longer journey but less expensive, you can opt for the FL1 Regional Train which costs €8. Both train services offer convenient transportation to Rome.

Getting from Ciampino Airport to Rome City Centre
For those arriving at Ciampino Airport, a fixed taxi fare of €40 can take up to four people, including luggage, to the city centre. Alternatively, a shuttle bus service to Roma Termini is also available for €6 per passenger.
Hiring a Car in Rome
While exploring Rome in a car is not recommended due to traffic, it offers flexibility to explore the outskirts like Villa D’Este, Castel Gandolfo, Naples, Pompeii, and Florence.
