The Pope Video: A Global Initiative for Prayer
When it comes to spreading the message of peace and compassion, Pope Francis is always at the forefront. Recently, he approved a set of new norms for the Foundation entrusted to the Jesuits and developed by the Apostleship of Prayer. This foundation is responsible for broadcasting “The Pope Video” with his monthly prayer intentions to a network in 89 countries.
The Vatican News announced that these new statutes, unveiled on July 8th, pave the way for the Vatican foundation overseeing the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network. These statutes recognize the rich history of the initiative and its essential mission. Now, the Secretariat for the Economy will have the final say on budgets and the appointment of a sole auditor, tasks that were previously under the jurisdiction of the Secretariat of State.
The Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network aims to mobilize Catholics globally through prayer and action in response to the pressing challenges facing humanity and the Church. These challenges are presented in the form of prayer intentions entrusted by the Pope to the entire Church.
The Pope Video is the official global initiative for disseminating the Holy Father’s monthly intentions. This initiative is carried out by the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, also known as the Apostleship of Prayer.
The Foundation’s mission is rooted in the Heart of Jesus, a mission of compassion for the world. Established in 1844 as the Apostleship of Prayer, this initiative now operates in 89 countries and consists of more than 22 million Catholics united in prayer.
