Welcome to the Rome Half Marathon
Get ready for the inaugural Rome Half Marathon happening on Sunday, October 20, 2024. This half marathon will take place exclusively on the streets of Rome’s historic center.
Organized by RomaOstia in collaboration with RCS Sports & Events, alongside Rome Capitale and Wizz Air as main sponsors, participants will race along a looped course that encompasses the history of the Eternal City. From Piazza del Popolo to the Foro Romano, runners will pass iconic landmarks such as the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and the Circus Maximus.
With over 10,000 runners already registered, including 70% from abroad, this event promises to be a thrilling competition. In addition to the 21.0975 km half marathon, participants can also take part in a relay race, a new format introduced by the organizers. The event will also include a non-competitive 5-kilometer run in collaboration with the Fondazione Policlinico Gemelli IRCCS, providing free health check-ups to promote the importance of sport for overall well-being and longevity.
Speaking at the presentation of the Rome Half Marathon at the Ara Pacis Augustae, Alessandro Onorato, the Councilor for Sport, Tourism, Fashion, and Major Events of Rome Capitale, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “This event will be a cornerstone for Rome and aims to become one of the most beautiful races in the world. It will be a celebration of sport, with professional athletes, enthusiasts, and families.”
Onorato further added, “We firmly believe that the marathon will generate significant economic benefits for the city, improving tourism flows. It will also have a positive social impact through non-competitive races and a charity relay, where participants will directly fund sports solidarity projects. Participating in events like these raises awareness about the importance of physical activity as a tool for community engagement and promoting a healthy lifestyle.”
