Welcome to the XXVIII Theological Week at Nazareth Formation Centre in Beira!
Recently, the Nazareth Formation Centre in Beira, Central Mozambique, was buzzing with excitement as theologians from all corners of Mozambique gathered for the XXVIII Theological Week. The theme of this year’s event was “Pilgrims of Hope,” inspired by Pope Francis’s call for the Jubilee Year 2025.
The opening ceremony, graced by Archbishop Claudio Dalla Zuanna, S.C.I., saw the participation of Bishops, priests, religious individuals, and lay people, all coming together to delve into matters of faith and hope for the future.
A Beacon of Hope for Mozambique
During his inaugural address, Archbishop Claudio urged attendees to use this week as a platform to brainstorm ways in which the Church can contribute to the country’s progress and serve as a beacon of hope in these challenging times. The economic and social landscape of Mozambique calls for a united effort towards a brighter future, and the Theological Week aimed to ignite that spark of change.
Celebrating Jubilee Year and Mozambique’s Milestones
As discussions unfolded over the five-day event, the focus shifted towards the upcoming Jubilee Year 2025, coinciding with Mozambique’s 50th independence anniversary and the 100th anniversary of the Beira Cathedral. This convergence of milestones marked a period of reflection and planning for the future, with the aim of crafting indigenous solutions to the pastoral challenges facing Mozambican society.
Overall, the XXVIII Theological Week was not just a gathering of minds but a convergence of hearts and spirits, all united in the pursuit of hope and faith for a brighter tomorrow.
