The Vatican Secretary’s Journey to the Philippines
Embarking on a five-day adventure to the Philippines, the Vatican Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, is set to partake in a series of significant events. From “Pope’s Day” celebrations to meetings with Government officials and attendance at the plenary assembly of bishops, Archbishop Gallagher’s visit promises to be impactful.
Beginning his visit by commemorating “Pope’s Day,” which honors the feast day of St. Peter and St. Paul, Archbishop Gallagher will be present at the Apostolic Nunciature in Manila. The visit to the Southeastern Asian nation will span from July 1 to July 5.
Being a part of various meetings and events during his stay, Archbishop Gallagher’s schedule includes a courtesy visit to the President of the Philippines, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., and a meeting with the Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Enrique Manalo. He will also travel to Malaybalay in the Northern Mindanao region to join the Plenary Session of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) on July 3, followed by a Mass with the bishops at the Abbey of the Transfiguration. The journey culminates on July 5 with Archbishop Gallagher’s participation in a conference at the Foreign Service Institute in Manila, affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This visit not only signifies the Vatican’s commitment to fostering diplomatic relations but also highlights the importance of dialogue and collaboration between the Church and the Philippines.
