The Importance of Eucharist in Children’s Lives: A Message to Holy Childhood Animators
Recently, in the Catholic Diocese of Solwezi, Holy Childhood animators were reminded of the vital role the Eucharist plays in the lives of children during missionary animation. The message was clear: as animators, it is crucial to nurture this understanding among the children under their care in their respective parishes.
Devotion to the Blessed Sacrament
Fr. Wilbroad Musond, the Director of the Diocesan Pontifical Mission Societies for Solwezi (PMS), emphasized the importance of encouraging children to grasp the significance of the Eucharist in their spiritual journey. He believes that this understanding will enrich the children’s lives.
During a Mass at the Our Lady of Consolation Parish, Lwawu Mission, where 52 newly trained animators received certificates for completing a formation program, Fr. Musonda urged animators to embrace a devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.
He explained, “Celebrating the Eucharist and receiving Holy Communion is a vital aspect of Christian life that should be instilled in children from a young age. It provides immense spiritual nourishment.”
Fr. Musonda also stressed the importance for animators to cultivate their own love and comprehension of the Lord’s presence in the Eucharist and in their daily lives.
Including Older Persons in Animation
Fr. Musonda highlighted the need for a balance between young adult animators and older persons. He believes that older individuals bring a unique perspective and wealth of knowledge, making them valuable educators and mentors for children.
He emphasized, “Older persons can pass on important values and morals such as respect, empathy, and kindness to the next generation, enriching them with social, cultural, and religious heritage.”
Understanding Holy Childhood
The Holy Childhood association is dedicated to fostering children’s awareness of the Church’s missionary nature. Trained animators focus on the concept of children helping other children, with their motto being “Children helping Children.” This approach allows children to grow in their faith and understand their role in bearing witness to their beliefs.
As Holy Childhood animators continue their formation and missionary animation, they are encouraged to prioritize the vital role of the Eucharist in children’s lives, nurturing them spiritually and guiding them on their faith journey.
