Looking for a furry friend to join your family? Rome’s city-run kennels have just the event for you! In an effort to increase the chances of shelter dogs finding their forever homes, Rome’s city-run kennels staged a dog parade over the weekend.

The event, called “Le vere star siamo noi” (We are the real stars), took place in the EUR district and showcased the adorable dogs from the Muratella and Ponte Marconi kennels. It was a fun-filled day out for these shelter dogs and a great opportunity for them to interact with a dog-loving public.

Patrizia Prestipino, the city’s guarantor for animals, expressed her support for the initiative and announced that the parade will now become a monthly event. She thanked the animal rights associations and kennel operators who participated in giving the dogs a few hours of freedom outside the shelter.

The city emphasized that aside from socializing the dogs, the event also serves as an excellent platform to promote adoptions. In fact, two dogs were pre-adopted as a direct result of the parade!
